What is Difoprev?
Difoprev is a Class IIA Medical Device for the treatment of Diabetic Foot. Difoprev is liner (a light stock) that is made from a special yarn Meryl which attracts and holds glycoprotein and avoids abrasions to the epidermis. The glycoprotein is released gradually into the skin and has a strong hydrating and nourishing effect, and stimulates human dermal fibroblast growth. This helps to heal minor superficial ulcers (a potential cause of infection). The glycoprotein is microencapsulated and held within the Meryl fabric.
MERYL - The Microfibre
Difoprev liners (stockings) are made from Meryl, a synthetic microfiber, with no-friction surface that avoids abrasions to the skin and has a high degree of softness. The fabric is impregnated with microcapsules containing Glycoprotein at it attracts the proteins which are gradually released over the skin of the foot. The stocking is easily "recharged" by the patient at home with a Glycoprotein refill. Stockings are available in different sizes to ensure a good fit. Only Difoprev refill capsules can be used to replenish the active ingredients in Difoprev liners.
The
Active Ingredient
The active ingredient is a glycoprotein extracted from a Bacteria (Pseudoaleromonas
Antartica - Alteromonas Macleodee) that can be found in deep oceans and
Antarctica.
During cell growth, the bacterium produces an ex-polymer, with a composition of
76-86% protein and 8-14% sugars. This composition is has the effective
properties of "spread ability" on the horny layer of the epidermis, preventing
dryness of the skin due to its excellent moisturizing properties.
These effects strongly help in prevention maintaining in good health the
epidermis. The glycoprotein protects the epidermis from extreme cold conditions
with cryo-protective properties.
Clinical trials of Difoprev:
Increased "Healing Effect" on skin: The healing effect at concentrations of
10ng/ml. was clearly observed in tests on "in vitro" culture of human epidermal
keratinocytes (HEK-3T3SA) showing the healing of the artificial wound.
Increase in the formation of Type I Collagen: Levels of Type I Collagen
increased by 66% after 7 days and by 114% after 15 days. Increase in the
formation of Type IV Collagen Levels of Type IV Collagen increased by 20% after
7 days and by 68% after 15 days,
Increase in the formation of Elastin: Levels of Elastin increased by 7% after 7
days and by 17% after 15 days.
Effects: Hydrated skin, Suppleness, reduced calluses and restored functionality.
All these conditions are vital to maintain the skin in healthy condition.
